Criminal Dossier: Alex

Age: 25

Status: Underground

Crimes: Drug Use, Unemployment

Other Notes: Alex represents no threat to the organization and operation of the city. They have engaged in minor drug use, and have rejected all attempts at employment. Indeed, they seem to have little in the way of employable skills, besides a talent for the visual arts. They are part of a small street gang of vagrants, apparently childhood friends. Despite having been overheard advocating for radical societal shifts, they seem to lack the drive or organization for such an activity.

Personnel Dossier: Teri Wise

Employer: CrossCity SideSweeping

Age: 27

Height: 5’8”

Status: Cog (Agent Potential)

Other Notes: Of the employees of CrossCity SideSweeping, Wise demonstrates the greatest capabilities. She has, on multiple occasions, demonstrated exceptional skill in navigating the complex political field of her Corp, in addition to her skills as an accountant. It is believed that she has organized her fellow accountants into serving as an information source for her, granting her access to intelligence that would give her the ability to rapidly ascend the ranks if promoted out of the work room.

Corp Report: Medic’s Guild

Area of Function: Medical Licensing and Health Insurance

Number of Personnel: Approximately 20,000

Overview: The Medic’s Guild is one of the oldest Corps in the city, and the only one to pre-date the Foundation Charter. As such, it has a special relationship with City Hall, though fortunately it has a history of conservative High Autocrats, keeping the Corp from engaging in disruptive practices. The Medic’s Guild has remained in its position as a Great Corp since the establishment of the Foundation Charter, and seems unlikely to move from that position.

The services offered by the Medic’s Guild are invaluable to other Corps. They handle the licensing of all medical practitioners within Efficiantum and manage the insuring of all Corp employees. They also fastidiously hunt down unlicensed medics in order to assure their control of medical practice within the city.

Infiltration remains largely passive, and shows little of interest. The Corp remains stable, and unless they are especially careful to hide their plans, it has little interest in expanding beyond its current size and function.

For the last couple weeks, the updates have been fairly self-evident. Still, if you’re interested in seeing what all has been coming out, there will be links below the fold! But more importantly, I have two very important announcements!

First, thanks to the success of the first season of the Tales of Efficiantum, there will be a second. Outlining has begun now, with an eye to begin writing this week.

Second, I can now reveal Phase 2 to be a small (5-20 player) LARP called the Autocrat’s Gala. Interested? Read more below!

Criminal Dossier: The Silkworn Lady

Age: Mid-thirties

Height: 5’3”

Status: Underground

Crimes: Racketeering, Extortion, Possession of Illegal Knowledge

Other Notes: The Silkworn Lady has managed, somehow, to avoid capture, despite wearing ostentatious and readily identified silk clothing, with gold and pearl ornamentation and jewelry. It is suggested that she has the backing of a Gifted, giving her additional information on how to avoid being taken into custody.

She has connections throughout much of the Underground, and uses her influence to gain information on high profile targets, who she extorts to fund her other activities, most of which revolve around taking control of the criminal syndicates in the Underground. It is unknown what her ultimate goals are.

An infiltrated Agent overheard her discussing sensitive information regarding the High Autocrats and the Mayor, that suggests that she is aware of the Clockwork Directive. If she is captured, she is to be placed in a private cell immediately and executed as soon as possible.

Personnel Dossier: Herbert Frankson

Employer: CrossCity SideSweeping

Age: 41

Height: 5’6”

Status: Cog

Other Notes: Frankson, known as “Herb’ to his co-workers has recently been promoted up the ranks to a position in headquarters. This seems to be a result of his hard work and long term service to CrossCIty SideSweeping. An alternate reading, though, suggests that this is an attempt to remove him from the local environment via promotion. Regardless, his record of service does not suggest any particular talent for handling office politics and it is likely that he will not last long in his new position.

Corp Report: The Commissariat

Area of Function: Food Production and Distribution

Number of Personnel: Approximately 50,000

Overview: The Commissariat is the most recent addition to the Great Corps, formed when Efficiantum Open Markets merged with Farfield Grains, to create a single Corp with control over the production and distribution over all food stuffs within Efficiantum. Its sheer size, though, makes it prone to internal strife, and much of its current energy, and that of its High Autocrat, is spent on securing stability, rather than expanding further or engaging in more aggressive ploys.

Infiltration has been successful on multiple levels, which confirms the levels of strife. The High Autocrat has a relatively small number of loyal and active Agents, and so the higher ranked Cogs and Luminaries are currently struggling to achieve dominance within the Great Corp. Since most of these internal factions are opposed to one another, it is likely that these struggles will continue indefinitely.

Efforts may be required if these politics prevent the Commissariat from performing its function. The situation will be monitored carefully to assure that their actions do not excessively destabilize the city.

Chapter 1, Episode 2

The faces in the rain leave impressions deep and enduring. The world opens and reveals its strangeness.
